Productivity, Interrupted

When life has plans for you that you are not aware of......yet

There’s a reason we say, “I’ll pencil it in.” Life interrupts even the best-laid plans.

Picture two people:
One schedules client calls for 3 p.m. Her boss drops in, eats up most of the block with marginal chatter, and when he leaves she decides she’s too annoyed and it’s “too late” to make calls. She blames the interruption. But the real barrier is her resistance.

Another gets a call from school: his child is sick. He leaves early, picks up his child, and spends the rest of the afternoon in a crowded Urgent Care waiting room. He uses the downtime to reschedule the tasks he missed.

Both face disruptions. The difference isn’t the event, it’s resistance. Spot it, accept it, and productivity flows.

My unplanned interruption this week was coming down with the flu (hence this very shortened newsletter). I don’t recommend the experience. Stay healthy and safe and continue watching for resistance, great and small.
